General Tour Information

RESERVATIONS / PAYMENTS

Reservations and final payments are due to Discovery Tours 30 days prior to departure.  One-day tours require full payment upon reservation.  Multi-day tours are confirmed upon receipt of an $100 deposit (per person) for two or more day tours.  Multi-day tours being charged to your MasterCard or Visa require full payment.

CANCELLATIONS-REFUNDS

ALL CANCELLATIONS MUST BE MADE 30 DAYS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE DATE.  If cancellations are made after the 30 day deadline, a cancellation charge of $10 per person will apply, plus all non-refundable expenses made by us on your behalf (i.e., purchase of event tickets).  Cancellations within 72 hours or NO SHOWS on the day of departure will result in a loss of the total purchase price of the trip.  Cruise passengers and Collette & Mayflower travelers must follow the cancellation policy of those companies.

COACH SEATING

Seating on the coach is assigned from front to back in the order in which deposits are received (i.e., you determine your seat by confirming your reservation with the required deposit).  Special seating requests must be made at time of reservation.

LUGGAGE

Tour cost includes handling of one standard piece of luggage per person.  One small overnight bag (per person) may be placed in the overhead luggage rack inside the motor coach.  You are responsible for handling this article at all times.  Additional luggage will be handled at $5 per bag per day.  Every effort is made to handle luggage as carefully as possible.  However, Discovery Tours does not assume liability for loss or damage due to fire, water, theft, pilferage, breakage, etc. of any checked, unchecked or carry-on luggage, contents or other personal property of any type.

DEPARTURE TIMES

Departure times depend on the destination of the tour.  Times will be provided upon confirmation of your reservation and/or deposit.  Unless circumstances beyond our control delay these times, departure times will be exact.  Return times are approximate and are subject to change.  Return times mentioned for each tour are approximate return times to Cleveland, Ohio.  We accept no responsibility for travelers not at departure locations at designated times.  We strongly recommend that you arrive at your pick-up point a few minutes early.

SPECIAL PICK-UPS

Occasionally, special pick-ups can be made if routing and schedule permits (especially for groups of 10 or more).  This service is restricted and may involve an additional fee.

PERSONS TRAVELING ALONE

Persons traveling alone and who seek single room accommodations at an additional cost should apply for reservations early.  Should you request a roommate, we will do our best to assist you.

GRATUITIES

Tipping hotel personnel or dining room staff is included when meals are part of your tour.  If you wish to show your appreciation to your coach operator or tour director, gratuity may be awarded on a voluntary and individual basis.  This practice is customary, but not obligatory.

SUGGESTED ATTIRE

Generally, informal (i.e., casual) attire is acceptable.  We suggest you include comfortable walking shoes, a jacket or sweater and a lightweight raincoat.  Gentlemen will be notified if sport coats are necessary.

SMOKING

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on our coaches or on any of our tours.  Ample comfort stops should accommodate smokers.

PRICES

Our prices are based on quotations received in 2006.  Discovery Tours staff watch for the best and most economical opportunities when creating a tour.  However, we reserve the right to increase our prices at any time throughout the year.

IMMIGRATION REGULATIONS

In order to protect our travelers, Discovery Tours personnel reserves the right to deny access to travel to passengers at the departure location when the required identification is not with the passenger.  No refund will be available to the passenger who is unable to travel due to improper immigration requirements.  When departing the U.S. for another country, proof of citizenship is mandatory and must be carried with you.  This includes a current Passport or photo identification with an original or certified copy of a birth certificate with a raised seal.  Naturalized U.S. citizens must carry a naturalization certificate and some other evidence of citizenship.  Persons other than U.S. citizens or legal, permanent residents of the United States require a Passport or a VISA.  In addition to proof of citizenship, those admissible to Canada must not have a criminal record. This includes convictions for driving while intoxicated. Discovery Tours is not responsible for decisions made by customs officials.  Travelers are reminded that health, accident and other insurance coverage is their personal responsibility and should check with their insurance provider to assure that they have adequate coverage for all foreign tours.  For the further details on immigration requirements and/or regulations, please visit www.travel.state.gov.

SPECIAL REQUESTS

If a traveler should have special requests (i.e., meals and/or room accommodations), please note this information on your reservation form.  We will do our best to accommodate your request.

ACCESSIBILITY

Discovery Tours, Inc. will not directly or indirectly discriminate against persons on the basis of special needs. Discovery Tours, Inc. intends to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  However, although we will notify and request accessible facilities, Discovery Tours is not a guarantor that all facilities and attractions will provide access that complies with ADA requirements.  Please note that Canada and international destinations do not adhere to ADA requirements.  Please provide us with advance notification of special needs as all sites and attractions may not be accessible.  Note - persons with disabilities must have a traveling partner who is fully responsible for the person if the disability prevents them from being independent.

RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT

These tours are operated by Discovery Tours, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio, who work with motor coach providers who are certified and bonded by the Interstate Commerce Commission of the federal government. Discovery Tours, Inc. acts only as an agent for tour members in arranging room accommodations, transportation, admissions, sight-seeing and restaurants.  Discovery Tours reserves the right in its sole discretion to make changes in its itineraries and is not responsible to any person for expense, loss of time or money, or other circumstances resulting from an itinerary change or change of tour arrangements for tour members.  Discovery Tours reserves the right to decline, to accept or to retain any person as a member of any tour at any time.  Discovery Tours is not responsible for any loss or damage of personal property, or for injuries, expenses or damages incurred or claimed by any tour member(s).  Discovery Tours acts only as an agent for the passenger and therefore accepts no responsibility, in whole or part, for delays, loss, damage, injury to property or person(s) due to mechanical defects or other cause, and is not responsible for events outside its control, including but not limited to Acts of God, strikes, terrorism, war, sickness, power failures or government restrictions or regulations, or for acts of any person or entity not controlled by Discovery Tours, Inc., including but not limited to airlines, motor coach companies, taxi services or hotels.  We reserve the right to change the price of tours, if conditions deem necessary, without notice.  We also reserve the right to cancel any tour prior to departure and in such case all payment will be refunded without obligation by Discovery Tours, Inc.
