What is a Natural Heritage tour?

By definition, Natural Heritage refers to outstanding physical, biological and geological formations, habitats of threatened species of animals and plants, and areas with scientific, conservation or aesthetic value.  At Discovery Tours, we provide Natural Heritage Tours that identify geographical areas where visitors can make firsthand observations from hiking trails, bicycle paths and bodies of water.  Our tours and experiences are accessible to a wide general audience from school children to adults.

In 2007 Discovery Tours has partnered with several organizations to bring you the best in Natural Heritage Tours.  These partnerships include the National Park Conservation Association, the Yellowstone Association, Lake County Ohio Metroparks, the National Wildlife Refuge Association, the Kansas Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, the Nebraska Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge and the International Office of the Nature Conservancy.

Our country has an amazing and rich natural heritage.  With a Natural Heritage Tour presented by Discovery Tours you will identify learning experiences, discover the diversity of wildlife in native habitats and view the most attractive and interesting natural areas - all accompanied by our naturalist, Bob Faber.

EXCLUSIVITY
Each year, Discovery Tours reviews and researches dozens of itineraries to find the most interesting and innovative Natural Heritage tours.  We look for programs that combine comfortable travel, responsible tourism and a variety of educational experiences.  Often we design a tour ourselves, working with experts and colleagues to create the perfect itinerary.  We offer it exclusively to Discovery Tours travelers like you.  The bottom line: You won't find these tours anywhere else.

INTIMACY
We limit nearly all of our Natural Heritage tours to between five and 20 participants.  This ensures that you can hear a speaker, see a presentation or ask a question without being lost in the back of the crowd.  We could take more people on tours but we like the smaller groups.  We think you will too.

Discovery Tours' offering of Natural Heritage tours is the only program of its kind in Northeast Ohio - dedicated solely to showing natural wonders.  That means we attract travelers who love nature and want to learn more about it.  Traveling in the company of fellow nature enthusiasts is a great way to see some of our nation's greatest places.

BOB FABER
A Chicago native, Bob Faber has been interested in nature as long as he can remember.  Studying zoology, botany and earth sciences at Southern Illinois University (SIU), Bob first worked in state parks after receiving his bachelor's degree.  For nearly 30 years he has been leading fellow enthusiasts, especially birders, and helping travelers experience nature, explore new and exciting places and look at familiar things in a new way.

We want you to be free to have fun, and that means not worrying about your next meal, hotel room or travel route.
